Technical Support Specialist I

job summary:
Exciting 1 year contract to permanent hire opportunity on site in Roanoke VA at a large finance organization's corporate office. This position works with the end user community and IT programming development staff to support information systems which include PC Support, Helpdesk, Remote user Access and Security Systems.

-Works to build thorough knowledge of business systems to support user initiatives.

-Assists in development of complex system test plans, scripts, conditions, and transactions and gives input to the overall project plans supporting business system initiatives.

-Responsible for Helpdesk Support including all moves, adds, and change to systems.

-Maintain infrastructure cabling including all cross-connects for Voice and Data circuits.

-Assists with troubleshooting of Prosperity Systems and End User Support. Respond to requests for technical assistance from Prosperity personnel, which involves answering questions; directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel; and diagnosing or and resolving technical problems.

-Assists with the development of plans to coordinate all activities involved in the installation or relocation of systems.

-Liaison with representatives (internal or external) of other technical areas to plan project outcomes, resolve problems and discuss project status.

-Inspect and evaluate work done to ensure compliance with quality standards.

-Following up with clients to ensure that all systems are operating without fault.

-Serves as backup to Network Administrator and Technical Support Specialists.

-Provides audio-visual support for company meetings and training. Coordinates, sets-up, maintains and makes recommendations on purchases of audio-visual equipment.

-Assists with keeping Technical Services server room and other IT storage/closets orderly and secure.

Maintains up-to-date documentation in assigned areas of responsibility. Provides 24X7 Technical Services support as -needed.

-Interacts with all levels of management to coordinate, lead, and assist in system upgrades, and other system enhancements. Supports customer service areas and Corporate Annual Plans.

-Assists management in the prioritization of system service requests. Provides in-depth analysis to troubleshooting production system problems and/or procedural inefficiencies. Offers alternatives and advisement for proper resolution.

-Trains the trainer for system enhancements, new system functionality, and system upgrades. Provides input and support to develop system procedures and documentation for the end-user areas.

-Identify and recommend workflow processes for Administrative systems to improve the quality and efficiency of processing.
