Designs mechanical parts, modules and subsystems to support the design of KLA inspection tools.
Preferred skillsets: vacuum chamber/equipment design, stage design, GD&T, tight tolerancing and tolerance analysis.
Design, build, and test mechanical components and systems, including ultra-high vacuum and ultra clean vacuum hardware and test fixtures from concept validation to final product design. Proficient in design and simulation using CAD, FEA and CFD tools. Knowledgeable in materials, part manufacturing and inspection processes. Participate in the design, building, and testing of ultra-low particulating mechanisms and sub-systems.
Provide solutions to tooling and test fixtures for risk retirement. Automate test functions and data logging to provide consistency in test results. Debug and troubleshoot design problems Create part and assembly drawings, including geometric tolerancing. Be self sufficient, able to work independently.

Responsible for the complete design process, including requirements specification, feasibility studies, cost and scheduling, conducting various analysis, such as fluid, thermal, vibrational, and FEA modeling, conceptual and detailed design using CAD systems (i.e. Pro-E, Solid Works, AutoCAD, etc...), detailed drawings, design review presentations, procurement of prototype parts, system integration, prototype testing, and handoff to manufacturing. These tasks will require working with other engineering groups such as EE, OE, systems and manufacturing engineers to ensure flawless integration and test at the subsystem and system level. Develops the required supporting documentation, such as assembly and test procedures, and service manuals. Works closely with and manages suppliers to ensure all design requirements are specified and achieved. Addresses and resolves product issues thru the product phases. Has strong leadership, communication and problem solving skills.
