Information Security Architect

job summary:
The Information Security Architect provides subject matter expertise on the cybersecurity architecture and best practices to ensure client's technology are secure and functional. Responsibilities include identifying, testing, and advising on security risks and controls for cleint's technology. Successful candidates will have excellent oral and written communication skills, experience using security tools, designing/ implementing or administering networks, servers, and applications in hybrid and cloud environments, and proficiency with popular programming/scripting languages.

Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining technical implementation guides and standards for client technology, such as applications (both on-premises and cloud-based), infrastructure (on-premises and cloud-based servers, and networks), as well as application/data integrations.
  • Participating in processes for client technology and providing subject-matter expertise throughout the project management and technology lifecycle
  • Ensuring the proper selection, configuration, deployment, and operation of client technologies
  • Participating in computer security incident response activities
  • Providing research and operational support to teams within Information Security Management and the broader University
  • Working with cross-functional teams for various initiatives
  • Assisting with reporting and metrics
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Min of 5-years of mid-level Cybersecurity or 7-years senior-level technically-focused Information Technology experience
  • BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, related discipline or experience in lieu of degree acceptable
  • Comprehensive understanding of OWASP
  • Familiarity with IPS/IDS, NGFW, SIEM and other security-related tools
  • Relevant professional certifications, such as CISSP, CISA, CAP, GSLC, CISM, or GCCC
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • strong critical thinking and attention to detail
  • Ability to mentor a junior team member
Preferred Qualifications:

  • One or more additional professional certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA and ITIL
  • Experience participating in incident response activities
  • Experience with ticket management systems such as ServiceNow
  • Experience level: Experienced
  • Minimum 7 years of experience
