SalesForce Developer

job summary:
The Salesforce Development Engineer implements the technology vision and direction for the technical and functional applications of business systems development. The Engineer provides guidance in business systems solutions for developing and implementing functional requirements for Salesforce applications and integration to core systems. Advocates improvements in processes in support of the Sales and Sales support teams. Contributor to IT and customer focused improvements in Salesforce platform and business systems. With support from Salesforce Administrator and IT Applications manages, will be responsible for the design and build of Salesforce Applications and integration to other applications and platforms; including architecture, languages, best practices and methodologies in an Agile Scrum environment.

The Engineer works with the IT Applications Development teams, PMO, and Client Services teams in fulfilling requirements for Salesforce, as it relates to other business systems, and platforms. Will work closely with the Salesforce Applications Administrator as well as with other departments such as Sales, Sales Support, Operations, Finance, and Marketing.

The Engineer may also work with external consulting resources based on project scope and priorities set by the business and IT. Will need to support other technical teams in the Business Systems development, to complete integrations with other platforms and applications using RESTful API's and other connectivity platforms. Must perform functions in an Agile methodology and support other team members by ensuring continued understanding of Salesforce technologies, platforms and integrations are using best practice methods and tools.

Project Management-20%

Maintains development plans, project scope on-time delivery, and completion within budget.

  • Controls and monitors project progress, costs, risks, remediation, and change management processes
  • Organizes workload and ensures appropriate resource planning
  • Communicates status to appropriate stakeholders and closes out projects.
Salesforce Systems Development and Integration-65%

Understands the needs of the business and advises on the most effective strategy regarding Salesforce applications development and Integration. Recommends Salesforce and process changes that support the future direction of the business, allowing for seamless integration to other Applications and Platforms that improve efficiencies of the various departments that leverage the use of Salesforce.

  • Proven ability to analyze, design, and optimize business processes utilizing Salesforce technology
  • Technical and functional knowledge of Salesforce architecture, APEX, Visualforce
  • Understanding of key Salesforce architectural concepts (e.g. API and governor limits, security models and techniques) and how they influence design
  • Salesforce Process Builder, Visual Workflow, Approval Processes
  • Languages : APEX, SOQL, SOSL, Visualforce, SQL, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, HTML
  • Development/deployment tools: Salesforce Developer Console, Salesforce Workbench, Eclipse, Salesforce Changesets
  • ETL/integration tool experience; Pentaho, Jitterbit, Informatica, Cast Iron, Mulesoft, MS SSIS, etc.
  • Salesforce security model, Single-Sign-On
  • Experience developing Lightning components
  • Lightning migration experience
  • API integrations, Multiple Salesforce org integration experience, Salesforce to Salesforce, Salesforce Connect
  • Salesforce Mobile Development Experience
  • Salesforce Administrator certification (Desired)
  • Salesforce Developer certification (Desired)
  • Salesforce Architect certification (Desired)
Relationship Management 10%

Interacts heavily with Salesforce Administrator, Applications Development, PMO, QA, Sales and Sales support teams, as well as establishes and maintains external customers.

Professional Development 5%

Reviews technical literature, attends meetings and training opportunities, and keeps-up-to-date on emerging technologies related to information systems and their proper use.
