job summary:
JOB SUMMARY: The UNIX Systems Administrator is part of an Infrastructure team with an organization on its journey to adopt the latest IT technologies including Cloud, Containers, and Systems Automation. Using Operating Systems management, automation and scripting with the latest tool sets.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation:



  • Install and support Linux Red Hat systems.
  • Support or lead in developing and maintaining automation processes for Operation System environments specific to Cloud deployment of infrastructure or application orchestration (using container technology).
  • Ensuring OS systems are built and maintained according to established standards.
  • Participate in performing system patching.
  • Assist with system performance monitoring and perform problem determination for Linux VM and standalone systems.
  • Collaborate in the planning of client/server projects from assessment through design and implementation.
  • Perform periodic on-call responsibilities for UNIX systems.
  • Adhere to and be compliant, as applicable, with GLBA, FCRA, FCPA, HIPAA, CAN-SPAM, UDAP, as well as all other federal, state and local laws, and company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • 5 to 10 years of experience as a UNIX administrator or UNIX engineer. 3 years minimum experience installing and supporting Linux. Red Hat variant desired.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux network-based build process (e.g. Red Hat PXE).
  • Experience with developing automation processes using automation tools sets including scripting tools (e.g. Puppet, Ansible) and/or orchestration tools (e.g. Terraform, Morpheus).
  • Expertise with UNIX Scripting / programming (e.g. Bash, Ruby, Perl, Python).
  • Training and/or experience with Infrastructure as Code concepts and implementation.
  • Experience with patch and build deployment products such as Red Hat Satellite.
  • Technical competency with Linux volume managers and file systems (LVM).
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex problems involving UNIX server OS, Virtual Machine (VMWare), hardware and software.
  • Good verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and work effectively in a team environment.
Desirable experience:

  • Training or experience with Cloud providers such as AWS or Azure.
  • Training or experience with Container technology specifically Kubernetes (Red Hat Openshift desired).
  • Training or experience with Orchestration tools such as Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, Terraform or Morpheus.
  • Web Services experience (configuration, cert management, hardening, load balancing).
  • Project Management experience (create and maintain project plans, execute and delegate project tasks, communicate with stakeholders).
  • Oracle Linux experience.
  • Knowledge of UNIX account integration with LDAP or Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of Intel architecture.
  • Knowledge of VMWARE virtualization.
  • UNIX architecture and tuning.
