Sr. Business Analyst

job summary:
Our client is currently seeking a Sr. Business Analyst for a full time, direct hire opportunity located in Franklin, TN.

Overview

Do you thrive on being on the cutting edge of new business? Are you a great listener with excellent communication skills? Do you love details and how they fit into the bigger picture?

We're looking for a Sr. Business Analyst who has 8+ years of experience in business analysis. Someone who has the heart of a servant leader. A person who can listen to all perspectives without judgement and guide the group towards consensus. An experienced Business Analyst who has also worked in broadcasting, streaming, a startup, or guiding a business through major growth.

If you're thinking right now that I'm talking about you, read on and apply because we need you on our Business Analysis team.

Here's what you will be doing:

Establish and maintain relationships at all levels across the Ministry to ensure the best delivery of business analysis.

Utilize your experience with broadcasting, streaming, a startup, or guiding a business through major growth to guide and support these areas in their desire to grow and change quickly.

Facilitate conversations of various group sizes with the ability to listen to all perspectives, guide the group through any disagreements to a resolution, remain unbiased, and ask questions to uncover information.

Discover, synthesize, analyze, and document business needs, requirements, business rules, terms and definitions, processes, solution evaluations to help business departments and the Ministry achieve their goals.

Determine and create appropriate documentation needed for the project being worked on and at the appropriate level based on the audience.

Approach your work both from a highly detailed and an overarching Ministry-wide perspective, with the ability to move between both as the situation requires.

Work closely with Business Analysts, Project Managers, Business subject matter experts, and Software Developers to ensure projects are executed on time and within budget.

Work closely with the Manager of Business Analysis and Senior Business Analysts to build an atmosphere of mentorship, business analysis standards, and support for other Analysts and Software Developers.

Utilize knowledge of the IIBA BABOK and business analysis best practices; knowing when bending methodology structure is applicable and when it's not.

Help create and maintain a transparent, business knowledge inventory available to all staff.

Here's what we need from you:

A Servant Leader. You have a heart of servitude, focusing on the needs of others. You acknowledge other people's perspectives, give them the support needed to achieve their goals, involve them in decisions where appropriate, and build a sense of community within the team. You possess a collaborative and flexible style as a team player, with a strong service mentality.

An internal champion. You ensure those not present (business or technology) are brought in or have their perspective considered in their absence.

A problem solver. You take deep pride in your work and view each new problem as an opportunity for success; you approach challenges creatively, but methodically.

Inquisitive. You are curious and ask questions often. You're hungry to learn new things and understand complex problems. You have a desire to learn how things are done and that drives you to look for ways to improve and streamline existing processes.

Comfortable with ambiguity. You face change with a cool head and persevere even if you don't have all the details; you're comfortable moving between projects and facing the uncertain because risk and change motivates you to evolve and innovate.

Technically astute. You rapidly learn new skills, grasping complicated technical information that often leaves others lost whether it's product, industry, or hard tech knowledge, you absorb it quickly and are ready for more.

Experience to do the job:

8+ years of experience working as a Business Analyst on large complex projects with multiple business sponsors, timelines, and dependencies.

5+ years of experience working on technology-based projects; familiar with the software development process: discovery, design, build, test/QA, deployment, measurement, and optimization.

Experience in broadcasting, streaming, a startup, or guiding a business through major growth highly desired.

Experience working directly with senior level executives to gain trust, influence, and establish consistent rapport for business analysis work.

Follow industry best practices for business analysis, with demonstrated knowledge of the IIBA Business Analysis Body of Knowledge.

Ability to move between waterfall and agile methods depending upon the need.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships. Exhibit high emotional intelligence.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to support interaction with a variety of staff members at different seniority levels. A skilled writer of unambiguous, verifiable requirements to a testable level.

Excellent technical documenting skills; particularly with using Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and cloud- based collaboration tools.

Ability to learn, understand and apply new technologies.

Must be able to work independently, support several projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.

Demonstrated commitment to the social sector with a passion for our mission and values.

CBAP Certification desired.

Experience with the Business Rules Approach methodology a plus.
