Sr. Infrastructure Admin

job summary:
Our client is looking for a skilled IT professional that can help them manage their on premise infrastructure efficiently by the effective use of monitoring and automation tools, as well as helping them optimize their datacenter. Though this role's initial focus is heavy on "on premise" infrastructure, eventually, it will include participation on Microsoft Azure projects as part of their cloud-first strategy. This job requires attention to details, logical thinking, organization, time management and strong communication skills.

  • Implement, monitor and maintain IT infrastructure, efficiently, following industry best practices
  • Optimize infrastructure management processes by using automation tools and techniques
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and solve outages and other problems with hardware, web servers, application servers, storage and networking
  • Perform configuration, installation and other system administration functions
  • Provide for Incident Response and Problem Management including root cause of system problems, resulting in operational performance degradation or system outages, delivering to the manager information and advice on the necessary corrective actions and/or interim workarounds.
  • Work on server migrations, hardware consolidation and integration projects
  • Serve as final tier of support escalation for infrastructure systems
  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery solutions
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to the position
  • Collaborate with others to ensure timely configuration and deployment of deliverables
  • This role requires working some evenings or weekends due to infrastructure support matters, maintenance or project-related goals
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging technologies and technical strategy, and advise the supervisor where improvements are deemed necessary
  • Document and provide training for Junior and Mid-level team members for new and existing solutions
  • Transfer knowledge to peers to achieve department goals
  • Experience level: Experienced
  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Education: Bachelors
  • VMWARE (3 years of experience is required)
  • Hyper-V (3 years of experience is required)
  • Cisco (3 years of experience is required)
  • PowerShell (3 years of experience is required)
  • Azure (3 years of experience is required)
