Senior Data Scientist

job summary:
Our client is looking for a Senior Data Scientist, reporting directly to the VP of R&D.

The candidate must have:

  • 5+ years in data science, specifically developing algorithms in production grade software environmen - Ability to work in the presence of both large and small amounts of available data
  • strong traditional mathematics and statistics background and skillset including Bayesian Statistics, multi-variate analysis, hypothesis testing, Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE), Markov Chain Monte Carlo Simulation, Gaussian Processes and Genetic Algorithms
  • Multiple years of experience developing in Python
  • strong background in machine learning and deep learning. More importantly, understands when and how each tool applies and if there are simpler ways to solve the problem
  • Experience developing in agile software framework such as Scrum or Kanban
  • Data, process, and systems driven
  • High sense of urgency, immediately acting on the items that will have the biggest impact on project success not just what is easy to complete in a short amount of time - Ability to handle rapid changes in product strategy, key milestones, and assigned work
  • Prioritization of quality over schedule and cost. A small quality issue can potentially have a massive cost and schedule impact due to the increasing cost of rework farther into the design process and product lifecycle

  • Development and implementation of algorithms to:

    • Analyze data
    • Project data trends and quantify the uncertainty in said trends
    • Incorporate expert knowledge and experience, adjusting models as new data is available
    • Predict potential failures and their associated drivers
    • Characterize data
    • Recommend field activities and upgrades to improve facility performance
  • Optimally allocate multiple scarce resources to maximize business value
  • Gathering, organization, and visualization of data, both structured and unstructured
  • Develop product requirements documentation for production grade software development
  • Support technical discussions with PinnacleART customers regarding developed data science solutions
  • Experience level: Experienced
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Education: Bachelors (required)
  • Python
