Marketing Manager

job summary:
The Senior Marketing Manager oversees the marketing & social media community engagement department, leading the marketing effort for the North American division. Presented frequently with data, this individual analyzes relevant data to develop, calibrate and execute strategies for the Marketing department and social media efforts.

Marketing Team Oversight and Strategy

  • Overseeing the communication with ad agencies, stepping in to negotiate costing and packages
  • Reviewing daily report from Marketing team capturing strictly quantitative raw data for all regions
  • Reviewing weekly reports from Marketing team to identify weekly trends, how campaigns are performing by region, cost, issues, and strategy for following week
  • Reviewing monthly reports including qualitative and quantitative data capturing all stats related to marketing efforts for the month, comparisons to previous months, and impact on upcoming marketing activities
  • Facilitating weekly meetings including Marketing and Live Operations team to allow both teams to present key data and translate into future strategy
  • Using reported data combined with market and industry knowledge to analyze trends, develop strategies and monitor campaigns, leveraging the marketing team as required
  • Review / analyze current launch marketing plans for future releases and develop follow-up strategies.
  • Create / propose marketing plans for future releases and follow-up marketing & social media community engagement strategies for future releases
  • Create and propose annual marketing budgets based on previous campaign performance and potential opportunities
  • Providing coaching, guidance and training to the Marketing team, ensuring employees feel set up for success in their roles, and monitoring and evaluating performance informally and formally
  • Projecting staffing needs and working with Human Resources to recruit talent as required

  • Developing and submitting various reports as requested by Headquarters
  • Managing various operational requests from Headquarters as they arise
  • Participating in or leading miscellaneous corporate initiatives as directed by Headquarters

Qualifications and Skills

  • Undergraduate Degree or Diploma in Business, Management or Marketing or relevant experience a requirement
  • 7 years marketing management experience in gaming industry an asset
  • 'First Person Shooter' game genre marketing experience is an asset
  • Console / PC game marketing experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of marketing best practices and trends a requirement
  • General knowledge of the gaming industry an asset

Position Outcomes/Objectives and Standards of Performance

Regularly generated reports by the Live Operations and Marketing teams are interpreted and analyzed to extract meaningful data. Data is rolled into strategic plans for the marketing department.

Reports are generated and presented on a regular basis by both departments capturing key qualitative and quantitative data. Reports are analyzed for trends, successes, failures, and red flags, and communicated to the team to steer the direction of their objectives as the year progresses.

Key data trends are captured in the report shared with HQ to support the Company's direction.

A robust and agile marketing strategy is developed and executed for the year.

A marketing strategy outlining campaigns, targeted regions, timelines and other specifics is developed and communicated to the marketing team. Key findings from reporting and analytics influence the strategy, at times changing direction for the balance of the year.

Direct reports are performing to the best of their ability, and are set up for success in their roles.

Employees feel they have the tools they require to be successful, receive adequate guidance and mentoring from their Manager, and are clear of their role and objectives.

Issues are dealt with in a timely and appropriate manner (or escalated to HR as required), and recruitment needs are forecasted in advance.

Managing various projects and initiatives to ensure quality and scope.

Managing projects to ensure milestones are achieved according to projected timelines, budgets are respected, projects are of high quality, and completed within the overall proposed scope.

Incumbent demonstrates behaviours aligned with the organization's values, vision and mission statement.

Feedback from stakeholders and team members confirms that incumbent consistently demonstrates actions aligned with company's values.
