job description

Voice Telephony Engineer

job summary:
The Transformation Engineer (TE) will be responsible for the guidance and governance of each store's migration. There will be 16 stores per day spaced across the four time zones. Skills are a mix of classic telco, PBX, IP, CUCM and remote technician guidance.

Specifically, the TE will be responsible for maintaining a bridge that a Field Service Technician (FET) will call into. The TE will be responsible for guiding the FET in the completion of the onsite work effort. The onsite work effort the FET will complete involves communication with the store manager, acquisition of the equipment shipped to the site, identification of the MDF, installation of ATA-191s, connecting the ATA-191s to the network, creating cables to connect the ATA-191 analog ports to the PBX trunks, pulling jumpers associated with the legacy POTS trunks, testing and acquiring the customer's signoff. The transformation engineer will be guiding the FET in completion of the work. The program has a robust set of guides and instructions which the TE and FET will have.

Beyond the FET guidance / coaching to completion skills the TE needs skills with Cisco Unified Call manager, how number porting works, basics of cabling (RJ-11 Telco, RJ-45/(568-A) and facility connection structures (66 Blocks/Punch Down). They just need to be able to guide FETs. They should also understand the basics of IP connectivity in relation to connecting ATA-191s and establishing their connectivity to CUCM.
