Technical Project Manager

job summary:
Randstad is looking for a Project Manager to support a long-term government contract. The position is currently remote but will be return on-site in some capacity to Greenbelt, MD.

Responsibilities for the Project Manager:

  • Lead the team to collaborate with the government customer to rapidly prototype and support efforts for scientists to effectively develop and deploy applications in the cloud (currently AWS).
  • Manage the development and deployment of scalable, supportable, reliable and secure platforms.
  • Lead and plan the day-to-day execution of the SMCE cloud operation, policies, processes and support.
  • Drive the automation and infrastructure practices to ensure teams are following industry best practices to foster repeatability, consistency and portability.
Qualifications for the Project Manager:

  • 5+ years of Project Management Experience
  • Experience working on cloud-based projects including one of the following: AWS, Azure, Google Platform, or OpenStack
  • Experience working on IT related projects preferably within the Software Development or IT Infrastructure space
  • Able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
Compensation for the Project Manager:

  • $110,000-$130,000 (depending on years of experience)

responsibilities:
  • You and your team of cloud systems engineers design and implement enhanced infrastructure and services that give NASA scientists more choices and the ability to innovate on the products and services we collectively offer to our customers throughout the agency.
  • Lead the team to collaborate with the government customer to rapidly prototype and support efforts for scientists to effectively develop and deploy applications in the cloud (currently AWS).
  • Manage the development and deployment of scalable, supportable, reliable and secure platforms.
  • Lead and plan the day-to-day execution of the SMCE cloud operation, policies, processes and support.
  • Drive the automation and infrastructure practices to ensure teams are following industry best practices to foster repeatability, consistency and portability.
  • Lead the team to develop new tools and methods for data analysis, machine learning and high performance computing using AWS's service catalogue.
  • You are responsible for system performance analysis, tuning and capacity planning efforts across the enterprise with a user base heavily focused on scientific modeling, numerical processes and data analytics.
  • Investigate, analyze and make recommendations regarding technology improvements, development best practices, standardization, scaling, upgrades, and modifications to our infrastructure and services.
  • Lead the design, engineering and integration of public cloud technologies to deliver a fully integrated Cloud offering for NASA's scientific community. Use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish.
  • Work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Areas of accountability include:
  • AWS Cloud technology architecture, disaster recovery, operating systems, databases, networks, security and ITIL processes.
  • Responsibilities include agile project management, task tracking, customer onboarding and training, documentation, financial management/tracking, reporting and personnel/resource management.
  • Design strategy within core functions to support NASA's vision.
  • Leads strategic technology planning to achieve business goals by prioritizing technology projects/initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment and management of current and future technologies.
  • Drive execution and technology adoption initiatives, evaluating, and redefining technology architecture, evaluating current operating technology systems to map to business needs, and ensuring effective execution of IT strategy while maintaining the highest level of efficiency, and promoting speed, quality and low-cost operations.
  • Develops and attracts high-caliber talent to match the identified needs of the IT organization; specifically, talent aligned with the 'cloud first' approach.
  • Serves as a role model in this area, demonstrating personal engagement in the development of direct reports as well as other IT management and professional staff.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and prepare minutes/track actions of meetings.
  • Provide the project management, coordination and inter/intra team communications to deliver outstanding program outcomes.
  • Lead the SMCE cloud engineering team in collaboration with other stakeholders to deliver high-quality products and features through the software project lifecycle (build, test and release on time).
  • Manage project schedules, identify obstacles and clearly communicate them to project stakeholders.
  • Take responsibility for release schedules and milestones, keeping up a high velocity in a fast-paced environment.
  • US citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance are mandatory requirements for this position.
