Backend Engineer

How you will help

You will own and be responsible for developing key components of our overall system that enables our customers to bring new insights to their own businesses. You'll use the best tools for the job, whether modern and revolutionary or time tested and proven, to deliver elegant, scalable solutions that meet business and technical needs.

What you will do

- Work with stakeholders and fellow engineers to break down feature requests into technical discrete tasks

- Deliver, test, and review code in accordance with a standardized software development lifecycle

- Actively identify and advocate for improvement opportunities in both technical architecture and team processes

- Seek to disseminate knowledge and improve team members' skills and abilities

- Adapt to changing product requirements and can effectively eliminate ambiguity when working with stakeholders

- Quickly and easily articulate technical concepts when communicating with both software engineers and non-technical team members

- Write and refactor code conforming to different paradigms (object oriented, imperative, functional) and has opinions on their strengths, weaknesses, and when each would be used and why

- Troubleshoot issues in a cloud-based, Linux environment

Desired skills and experience

- strong knowledge of Python, Docker, modern best practices and tooling for Python development

- Familiarity with core AWS products (S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS, Aurora, Elasticache, etc.)

- Experience with CI/CD solutions and high-availability applications

- Experience implementing service-oriented architecture, microservices, 12-factor applications

- Experience with BI, metrics, and monitoring technologies
