4 Scope of Services

The State Materials Office is looking for a Network Analyst to assist the existing networking team wit h monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining the networking infrastructure. The duties of this position can be broad and may include such tasks as troubleshooting network systems (LAN/ WAN/ wire less) and other devices, such as servers and networked printers; assisting with enterprise level systems and devices; adding and removing individuals from the list of authorized users, archiving files, overseeing password protection and other security measures, monitoring usage of shared resources, and handling malfunctioning equipment. The Network Analyst will be responsible for working on projects, systems, and/or issues of medium to high complexity, and will be expected to provide daily operations support, maintenance, administration and reporting for components related to the networking infrastructure. This position requires ownership of complex issues to support Department business.

5 Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience.

6 Experience

1. Must have experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2012r2. Knowledge and experience with Windows Server 2016 is a plus.

2. Must understand local area networks and how they interconnect with endpoint devices.

3. Experienced in network communications, including TCP/IP and DNS, CIFS file sharing and NTFS permissions.

4. 3 to 5 years of IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments in systems operations, support, maintenance and administration.

5. Experience in Network Performance Tuning, LAN Knowledge, Network Design and Implementation, Problem Solving, Strategic Planning, Multi-tasking, Quality Focus, Coordination, Technical Understanding, Quick Study, Technical Zeal.

6. Experience in documenting processes, workflows, and diagraming networks.

7. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of Florida Department of Transportation systems and applications.

7 Primary Job Duties/ Tasks

1. Concentration and desire to work in desktop support (not infrastructure or networking)

2. Configure and deployment of Information Technology resources. Includes, but is not limited to desktop, laptops, handhelds, printers, mobile devices.

3. Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, using proven troubleshooting procedures

4. Assist in coordinating audio visual setup and videoconference support

5. Assist with annual inventory scanning and equipment surplus

6. Install, configure, and update software

7. Participate in team projects, meetings and assignments

8. Responsible for reading and following the Department's Procedures and Policies

9. Responsible for understanding and enforcing the Department's Policies and Procedures

10. Responsible for documenting solutions to Technology issues

11. Responsible for traveling to remote sites to resolve IT related issues and/or to deploy resources

12. Perform other related duties as assigned

13. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

8 Job Specific Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

This resource will primarily be tasked with performing networking infrastructure support, maintenance, troubleshooting, and implementing project deliverables for the State Materials Office Information Technology team including, but not limited to, the following:

1. Designs, configures, installs and troubleshoots network devices (including wireless) to meet the functional objectives of the business. Monitors network performance and adjusts network equipment as necessary to prov ide optimum performance. Troubleshoots network problems and outages, schedules upgrades, and collaborates with network engineers for net work optimization.

2. Involved in the configuration and maintenance of physical and logical netw orks. Maintains a secure environment and network infrastructu re in

accordance with all applicable policies, procedures and practices. Monitors net work for security threats or unauthorized users. Analyzes security risks and develops response procedures. Ensures anti-spam and virus protection is in place. Implements, maintains, and monitors network intrusion prevention measures. Maintains security documentation as required.

3. Assists in the design of the network architecture and infrastructure. Generates and maintains technical documentation as assigned. Creates network

topology diagrams for net work segments, the routers connecting the segments, servers, gateways and other major pieces of net working hard wa re. Documents server names, roles, and addresses. Documents changes such as application installat ions and modified security settings as required.

4. Plans, supports and maintains LAN/WAN/wireless solutions. Responds to security incidents as assigned. Captures additional event data and performs preliminary analysis to determine criticality. Escalates events if emergency response is determined necessary. Reviews and analyzes log data to determine nature and scope of incident. Uses virus, spyware, rootkit and other detection tools to determine necessary mitigation and repair. Documents all steps taken and subsequent resolutions.

5. Performs capacity planning. Assess network risks and assists with contingency planning. Perform s system administration and provisioning.

Controls access and authorization (creating and assigning member s to the appropriate role), sets up the distribution infrastructure, and installs and configures servers. Responds to system warnings, alerts, and errors, and diagnoses and resolves system problems. Plans for high availability configurations. Follows provisioning policies to grant access to the Department's managed resources.

6. Implements and maintains network management software. Performs Active Directory administration following current applicable standards and guidelines. Installs Active Directory Domain Serv ices. Administers Active Directory by using administrative tools. Creates and manages user and service accounts. Creates and administers computer objects and accounts to join the domain. Implements and manages Group Policy infrastructure; troubleshoots policy application.

7. Researches, analyzes and implements software patches or hardware changes/updates to address network deficiencies. Monitors Service Desk queue and resolves support tickets as assigned. Documents work performed and resolution(s). Identify, analyze and resolve problems and issues through the use of troubleshooting tools and techniques as well as team work. Provides high level of customer service by providing status and information to the customer.

8. Evaluates new products and services. Participates on statewide teams, both internal and external to the Office of Information Technology (OIT ). Provide facts to facilitate the team's decision-making process and to achieve the team's goals. Shares information and receives feedback from other OIT staff as appropriate.

9. Assists with maintaining the enterprise data replication off-site repository. Provides system support services including being a contact and advisory resource for the Districts in the day to day maintenance functions involving the enterprise data replication off-site environment. Conducts necessary monitoring, reporting, troubleshooting and facilities necessary part replacements and repairs for local equipment housed on-site within the SMO Data Center.
