Construction Accountant - Center City/Bala Cynwd, PA

***Growing real estate investment/development company is seeking a Construction Accountant to join their team. This position is open due to growth and is a great time to join the company in their high growth phase.***

The Construction Accountant will be involved in the financial aspects from concept to completion pertaining to the vibrant Main Line construction of the Class-A residential and retail space projects. Experience in accounting for hard and soft costs for ground-up and rehabilitation projects, tracking expenditures and costs to complete, including AIA draw documents for lender funding requests, budgeting and change orders will be extremely beneficial.   • Prepare draws to be sent to construction lenders, including assembling AIA Forms G702 and G703 and related forms
  • Request and assemble general contractor, sub-contractor and soft cost vendor supporting documentation
  • Monitor construction job progress versus budget and track potential change orders and overruns
  • Prepare status reports to development and construction management
  • Assist with tracking purchase orders, work orders and contract change orders
  • Reconcile draws payments and outstanding invoices to general ledger
  • Insure the proper receipt, tracking and filing of hard and electronic copies of GMP and other contracts and permanent documents for projects
  • Review all incoming development and construction related invoices for accuracy and coding prior to entry to payables system
  • Interact with vendors regarding invoice issues
  • Maintain job to date costs reports by budget category with supporting documentation including draws, invoice and cancelled check backup
  • Prepare and update quarterly and year-end schedules
  • Prepare documentation for journal entries as required
  • Ensure proper receipt of lien waivers and insurance certificates prior to release of payments to contractors and other vendors
  • Respond to special requests for information internally and externally
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years' accounting experience, preferably in a similar role
  • Real Estate / Job Cost experience in construction accounting, project budgets
  • Working knowledge of contracts highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of detailed working knowledge of AIA Forms G702 and G703, change orders a must
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office applications: Excel, Word, Adobe, and other software
  • Ability to work with high degree of accuracy and follow-up
  • Ability to handle shifting and multiple priorities in a fast paced, growth environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and successfully meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a stand-alone capacity with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team
