Summary

  • Organize and execute sales & marketing activity for the assigned product line
  • Lead the product line team that includes cross-functional staff from Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Accounting and Sales
  • Organize all phases of group sales effort for the product line
  • Build a strong, capable, motivated product line team
  • Frequent contact with all team members, including Sales, Cost Accounting, Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality Assurance
  • Extensive interface with customers, colleagues, parent-company personnel and independent representatives
  • Set priorities with Engineering on new business projects and track progress
  • Track bookings closely to ensure new business and bookings goals are met, while ensuring appropriate product ship dates

Responsibilities

  • Basic functions

    • Principal responsibility for product line revenue & income performance
    • Leader of the product line team
    • Organize and execute sales & marketing activity for the assigned product line
    • Promote and sell the group's existing products and meet planned backlog targets
    • Promote value generation of the product line by achieving growth through profitable new business, using the A/B new product process
    • Develop annual product prices consistent with customer perceived value and company guidelines
    • Expand market share with regard to existing and new products
    • Track cost improvement plans and actions related to the product line value generation plan
  • Booking responsibilities

    • Prepare written proposals for new and existing products that support the annual product line bookings plan
    • In conjunction with the Director of Sales and Marketing, prepare a yearly and three year income/bookings plan, which supports the goals of the annual business plan
    • Achieve the annual new business booking plan
    • Provide a rolling forecast of new business quotas
    • At the beginning of every month, provide a monthly report for the month just completed to the Director of Sales and Marketing on product line performance, sales activity, key metrics & rolling 3-month forecast
    • Coordinate with appropriate personnel on follow-up of open quotations to assure receipt of bookings in support of book-to-ship plan
    • Maintain a pipeline of new products/projects in support of product line growth plans
    • Responsibility for all new business reports & setting priorities
    • Coordinate with product line team and field sales on setting new business projects/roll-out schedules
    • Formulate long range sales/margin analysis and marketing strategy for the product line
    • Support contract administrators in evaluating inquiries, formulating proposal strategy, recommending pricing status to the Director of Sales and Marketing to ensure our products are specified and purchased
  • Other responsibilities

    • Lead & drive the product line management process
    • Review terms & conditions for liabilities on all new proposal(s) and LTA's to ensure conformity with company policy and get concurrence of the Director of Sales and Marketing
    • Advise the Director of Sales and Marketing on the overall product line status with the customer and short/long initiatives required to attain customer loyalty
    • Support field sales representatives' activities; coordinate customer interfaces; assist in presentations and closing negotiations, train field sales representative personnel to sell the product
    • Coordinate visits with customer representatives
    • Arrange and participate in conferences, as required
    • Assist in the preparation of catalogs, sales brochures and other promotional literature for the assigned product line
    • Maintain a contact list and develop an outline of major customer organizations to include decision-makers in product management, engineering and purchasing
    • Forecast usage on selected items in order to support manufacturing planning and ensure expedient lead times
    • Prepare & present (as required) product line review presentations
    • Conduct team training, as required, to build a strong, capable, motivated product team
    • Ensure adequate functional support is always available by working directly with functional managers
    • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 5 years of sales engineering experience, with a broad knowledge of aerospace industries and their requirements
  • USA citizen, permanent resident (green card holder), political asylee or refugee
  • Advanced knowledge of sales & marketing principles and practices
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to determine a course of action based on guidelines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to manage multiple tasks at once
  • Good interaction skills with colleagues and customers / the public
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally
