Senior Accountant

job summary:

Fast growing software with cutting edge data science company is looking for a Senior Accountant. You will be supporting the CFO and responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, managing the preparation of accurate and timely accounting data and ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures.

Responsibilities for Senior Accountant position:

  • Manage key areas of the monthly financial close to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
  • Ensure that the general ledger account reconciliations are performed in a timely manner and that proper controls have been applied.
  • Perform analysis of key accounts to ensure that proper accounting has been applied.
  • Manage and report on significant balance sheet activity and balances.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly financial analysis, including review of budget vs. actual variances.
  • Create, document and suggest improvements for processes, policies and procedures and participate in the implementation and roll out.
  • Assist with the continuous improvement of departmental documentation of and support for financial statement activity and balances.
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly and year end compliance and/or tax filings with regulatory agencies.
  • Perform ad-hoc assignments as needed.

Requirements of Senior Accountant position:

  • 5 - 7 years of finance and accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Knowledge of QuickBooks a plus
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment
