Staff Accountant

job summary:






We are currently recruiting for a Staff Accountant to join the team of a reputable company in Boston! This is an ongoing contract role with a high probability of converting to permanent.

As a Staff Accountant, your duties will include:

  • Lead the payables process including; purchase order processing, vendor management, and invoice collection, data entry and cash disbursements
  • Maintain other day-to-day accounting activities including, customer invoicing, fixed asset sub-ledgers, prepaid assets, expense accruals, and other general accounting processes, as requested
  • Participate in the monthly/annual close process (account reconciliations, journal entries, revenue recognition, etc.) and assist in financial statement preparation to management
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly reporting requirements, government grant processes (cash drawdowns, budget to actual reporting, etc.) and ad hoc reporting, as requested.
  • Maintain established internal control policies to ensure compliance with documented accounting policies and procedures
  • Work with HR to process payroll, book related journal entries to the GL and reconcile payroll related tax filings
  • Assist with the compilation of annual budgets, forecast revisions, and variance analysis, as requested
  • Exposure to external auditors as part of the company's annual financial and government audits
To qualify, the ideal candidate for Staff Accountant will have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business or related field
  • 1-3 years of hands on experience as an accountant in a start up and/or life sciences
  • Knowledge of an ERP, such as Oracle or SAP
  • Advanced Excel skills
