Staff Accountant II Payroll

job summary:
The Staff Accountant II will be responsible for supporting the expense stream of the mining operations which includes:

  • Ownership over accounting for payroll
  • Month end accruals for un-invoiced expenses and payroll
  • Calculation and processing royalties and production taxes related to mining operations
  • Processing sales/use tax activity for the mining operations.
This responsibility will entail timely month end close of mine operations including journal entries and reconciliations, reviewing expense activity against forecast to ensure proper accrual, processing payments for state and local taxes, accounting for payroll and supporting the external and internal audits. Strong communication and analytic skills are required as well as high level of attention to detail and processing high volumes of transactions.

The following soft skills will be crucial to be successful in this role: Team player with the ability to contribute toward the development of team to support operations, Ability to communicate and build relationships with multiple remote operations and other departments, Strong verbal and written skills allowing for positive information flow both internally and externally, Ability to think critically and drive initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department

Pre-Requisite Skills

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field with a major in Accounting

1-3 minimum years of related experience

Experience with Microsoft Office specifically Excel , ERP systems (JDE is a plus)

CPA/CMA or prior work experience for a public company is a plus
