job summary:
Calling all accountants/analysts with a diversified "toolbox!" Our client in Downtown Houston is looking for the best and brightest to join their team. This is a newly created role, open due to growth. The position will be responsible for a broad range of accounting, budgeting, forecasting, analysis and reporting for projects for all operations and construction activities. Role will encompass all aspects of AFE tracking and related cash forecasting, asset utilization and working with construction management to assure accuracy and completeness and updating monthly forecasts. Operationally, the position will be responsible for recording revenue, tracking project expenses, explaining variances and updating monthly forecasts.

responsibilities:
  • Tracking actual AFE costs on a monthly basis (includes ROW and fixed assets)
  • Creating AFE tracking files for new and existing AFE's
  • Updating forecast vs. budget reports and variance explanations on a monthly basis
  • Updating capital cash forecast on a monthly basis
  • Interfacing with construction management to assure accuracy of costs recorded and AFE forecasts
  • Interfacing with property tax consultants on annual filing of property tax returns
  • Assist with long-term model forecasts as needed
  • Perform all compliance activities related to our Industrial Revenue Bond
  • Consumable and Commodity inventory tracking
  • Recording book depreciation / amortization and calculating tax depreciation / amortization
  • Be an expert on our commercial agreements with producers and down-stream off-takers
  • Interfacing with commercial team on settlement statements and revenue and COGS
  • Track and analyze operations expenses
  • Perform monthly operations expense reviews with operations management
  • Prepare monthly forecast updates - revenue and operations expenses
  • Lead budget process for operations - revenue and expenses working with operations and commercial teams
  • Understand and write variance explanations to explain revenue and expense variances
  • Prepare technical accounting memos on new commercial contracts
  • Interface with external auditors
  • Assist with annual audit reports and other management and Board reporting
  • Other functions as requested, including journal entries and monthly account reconciliations
 
qualifications:
  • 2-4 years experience in a corporate environment; prefer 2+ years in public accounting
  • 4-year degree in Accounting
  • Detail oriented and thorough Accounting skills
  • Excel (excellent skills), Word, Power Point and accounting system proficiency
  • Problem Solving/Analysis

  • Results Driven
  • Travel up to 15% travel should be expected.
