If you are a recent college graduate with solid accounting internship experience or just finishing your first year or two of your first real accounting job and ready for a new challenge this could be your opportunity.

Position Summary: Day to day processing of General Ledger and Job Cost activities by preparing journal entries, reviewing settlement sheets, preparing check requests and maintaining spreadsheets. Monthly close of the General Ledger and production of the appropriate financial reports in a timely manner. Assist in preparation of annual business plan. Weekly cash management including preparation of capital calls and construction and land draws.

  • Review Settlement statements - preliminary and final
  • Review weekly housing proformas and prepare analysis
  • Prepare commissions for sales staff
  • Update and distribute weekly Sales Status reports.
  • Prepare miscellaneous journal entries for month end
  • Prepare lot takedown journal entries
  • Process and code check requests as needed
  • Process customer deposits and other misc. deposits daily
  • Prepare monthly: Sales Volume, Mortgage and Outside Realtor reports
  • Prepare monthly: Construction and Sales overhead analysis
  • Review house cost for settled houses, and prepare CJC reports at month end
  • Prepare sales journal for settled houses at month end
  • Prepare account reconciliations for all balance sheet items at month end
  • Prepare Balance Sheet and Lot Sales Summary for developer jobs monthly
  • Complete cash flows for specific subdivisions
  • Prepare weekly cash report and assist in assessing weekly cash needs
  • Preparing capital calls for cash needs
  • Prepare construction draws to be submitted to banks weekly
  • Assist with quarterly business plan updates
  • Assist with preparation of audit work papers annually
  • Prepare other excel reports and analysis as needed
  • Prepare monthly presentation of financial statements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 0-2 years' experience in a position with comparable job duties
  • Experience in the real estate industry preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively and work independently
  • Motivated individual with a lot of energy and a positive attitude
  • Excellent MS Office skills, especially Excel; experience in Accounting software preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • The individual must have a desire to learn processes and strive to make them more efficient
