The Senior Cost Accountant will provide aid to the Controller to perform cost accounting functions including reporting, account analysis, month-end closing and forecasting; will require communication and follow-up with functions outside of Accounting such as purchasing, operations, and engineering. The Senior Cost Accountant will also require decision making without the direct approval of the Controller.
This is a temporary position that is expected to last approximately 6 months, through early March 2019.

Develop accurate standards (product cost) for new product introductions while providing proper guidance to the new product development teams and buyers to obtain accurate base costing for sales pricing and margin reviews. Costing will be upon demand daily as well as weekly batch cost runs, working errors to ensure all products are cost on a timely basis.
Work errors and review for accuracy of purchased item costing (comparing against PIR's) for quarterly current cost runs and also year-end standards cost runs.
Review and reporting responsibilities for capital purchases; aid in preparation and review of CARS, capital spend reporting, and capital and depreciation forecasting for monthly forecasts and profit plan.
Prepare monthly account reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts, especially as relates to inventory and product warranty reserves.
Maintain and aid operations team on TWE/MVP cost savings development and tracking to ensure we are meeting profit center goals.
Forecasting responsibilities especially as relates to manufacturing expenses, IE: hourly production labor and variable overhead, development of earned hours to lead to these numbers. Included is forecasting for capital spend and depreciation, as well as cost savings impacts from TWE/MVP projects, both as mentioned above.
Perform month-end closing responsibilities unique to the cost accounting function. Prepare journal entries related to production order close and other material variances, Monthly E&O review.
Miscellaneous daily/weekly/monthly reporting requirements as well as aid in annual preparation of tax support schedules, census reporting, and R&D tax credit preparation.
Special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or business from an accredited institution is required.
- Minimum of 3 years cost accounting experience in a manufacturing or operations environment is required.
- No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within a 50 mile radius of the Aurora, CO facility will be considered.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
- SAP or large ERP system experience preferred.
- 3-5 years cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
