Compensation Analyst

job summary:
Primary Responsibilities

  • Conducts accurate and defensible market benchmarking and analysis to evaluate jobs and place them in Esterline's global job architecture, ensuring data integrity.
  • Participates in and analyzes salary surveys to ensure Esterline's compensation programs are internally equitable and externally competitive.
  • Analyzes market movement and updates the company's global pay structure.
  • Administers the annual merit increase process, including such associated tasks as collecting approved merit increase budgets from business units, developing merit increase matrices, preparing and launching the merit process, and analyzing results for executive approvals.
  • Ensures jobs are classified correctly in accordance with relevant statutory and regulatory mandates.
  • Works with HR Ops staff to support and maintain technology-based delivery system of compensation data and information.
  • Provides data and reports upon request from segment, region, platform or units.
  • Participates in research where data is lacking to develop new data sources and solutions.
  • Stays informed of legislative activities and regulatory changes and assists in evaluating impact to compensation programs.
  • Conducts regular job and employee data audits.
  • Triages compensation support requests via service ticketing system.
  • Updates and posts current compensation reference materials on a monthly basis.
  • May initiate and conduct various analysis and assessment to ensure programs are in accordance with company standards, are current and competitive with regard to market trends practices and costs.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of competitive compensation review and analysis.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; Advanced MS Excel skills desirable.
  • Ability to gather data independently, analyze data using Excel, and make recommendations for solutions.
  • Keen attention to details.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in compensation, including regulatory and legal requirements on a national and global level.
  • Demonstrated ability to design compensation solutions at the corporate, platform and unit levels.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to make recommendations.
  • Team player and creative collaborator.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; approachable.
  • Highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
Education/Previous Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business, HR, Accounting, or Finance
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct, hands-on compensation analysis experience
  • Experience with a compensation administration system and/or HR information system highly desirable
  • Professional certifications through WorldatWork preferre
