Cost Accounting Manager

job summary:
A well established manufacturing organization on the east side is currently looking for an experienced Cost Accounting Manager for a long term consulting project. The right candidate will need to be able to manage the day to day accounting while providing the Controller with process improvement to a long term legacy process that has been in place. Additionally this person will need to have the ability to review and improve deliverables, processes, reporting ,and operational support.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with leading daily responsibilities of the Cost Accounting team in support of manufacturing operations.
  • Actively drive Operations in tracking and controlling inventory levels. Provide advice on inventory management and reduction.
  • Maintain sound internal controls including but not limited cycle count and inventory scrap.
  • Maintain periodic financial reporting and financial analysis to provide operations management with the data needed to successfully run the business.
  • Plan and manage the periodic (annual) review and roll of the product unit standard costs.
  • Develop and improve accounting systems and procedures to enhance responsiveness to Operations management needs.
  • Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger and financial reporting.
  • Manage and prepare monthly forecast and annual budget.
  • Assist the Corporate Controller and Director of Finance, FP&A in special projects and all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business with added emphasis in cost accounting.
  • 5+ years cost accounting experience required.
  • A CPA or a CMA is desirable.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Strong analytical ability and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to deliver results through others, both direct and matrixed. Proven ability to lead, develop, motivate and hold others accountable.
  • Must be able to complete job responsibilities working with global time zone needs such as attending late night/ early morning meetings by phone and/ or web to meet global business needs.
