Property Accountant

We are looking for a skilled and highly proficient Property Accountant to join a long-standing non-profit organization. This individual will be responsible for preparing, processing, reviewing and evaluating the financial transactions, as well as ensuring the accuracy of all financial data.

Roles & Responsibilities:

General Ledger & Audit

  • Prepare monthly accounting package for each property, including full balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Responsible for recording property's monthly GL reclassifications reports.
  • Reconcile property's bank statements, for all bank accounts, on a monthly basis and researches and corrects all reconciling items.
  • Prepare and record property's journal entries.
  • Edit property's recurring monthly journal entries in accordance with the property's financial plan as needed.
  • Reconcile escrow and replacement reserve accounts monthly.
  • Monthly accruals for property and reconciliation of investment statements.
  • Prepare the audit work for assigned property.
  • Assist in all preliminary fieldwork completed by auditors and enter audit adjustment.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

  • Prepare each property's management fee monthly, and reconcile payments monthly.
  • Prepare property's mortgage PA monthly according to the property's amortization schedule or monthly statement.
  • Responsible for preparing the real estate taxes PA for property after receipt of the real estate tax bills from the city, town or mortgage company.
  • Compare the accounts receivable posted by the Property Managers to the bank activity to ensure that all deposits are posted correctly.
  • Reconcile the gross potential rent each month, and book property revenue/ties out all AR balances monthly.
Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years in accounting is required.
  • Strong understanding of MRI, QuickBooks, Financial Edge/Blackbaud.
