Payroll Clerk

Currently seeking an experienced Payroll Clerk to join our accounting and finance team. The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for maintaining payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data. The Payroll Clerk will also be responsible for auditing and verifying all time keeping records of employees' hours worked, as well as, any deductions or withholdings required to comply with state and federal law. The ideal candidate will be organized, pay close attention to details, be thorough, keep information confidential, and compile payroll reports as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and verify timekeeping information for all employees.
  • Follow up with supervisors to make ensure time cards are approved weekly prior to payroll processing. Consult supervisors and employees about any discrepancies.
  • Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, deductions, job title, and department/division transfers.
  • Manage and calculate taxes and deductions. Calculate unemployment and severance payments.
  • Record payroll data in our software system and verify all amounts prior to cutting checks or submitting payroll.
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Compile payroll reports of earnings, hours worked, taxes, insurance, and leave.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Performs additional duties, as assigned by management.
Qualification and Skills Needed:

  • Solid data entry skills.
  • Minimum of one-year of payroll experience.
  • Familiarity with payroll software is a plus.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
