Business Project Manager - Bloomfield, CT

  • This is a contract role expected to last 10 months.
Business Project Manager - Job Duties:

  • Understands, executes, and manages formal project management discipline
  • Provide support to develop accounting processes, and business and systems requirements to support new products and other strategic initiatives. Projects are large in scope, typically cross-functional and technically difficult to solve, often involving combinations of platforms and technology.
  • Provides consultative support during project requirement and design phases on operational and financial controls.
  • Identifies Accounting policy concerns and facilitates discussions to support new products and compliance roll-outs.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for Accounting and provides consultative support to IT management and staff on all phases of the project development cycle.
  • Supports design phases, insuring solutions meet business needs.
  • Identifies Accounting risks and risk triggers. Proposes risk mitigation strategy and secures approval from project and Accounting management.
  • Provides input to testing strategies to ensure application changes required to meet Accounting business requirements are robustly tested prior to implementation.
  • Reviews test evidence for accuracy and completeness; ensures that all Accounting business requirements have been included.
  • Seeks guidance on issue resolution, risk mitigation strategy, and issues escalation as needed.
  • Participates in post installation production support activities.
  • Develops training and communication materials and delivers timely training to impacted Accounting business units.
  • Recommends accounting treatment for new products, with focus on GAAP, Statutory, Health and Human Services (HHS) regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for planning and executing implementation tasks.
  • Identifies project delivery risks and develops/coordinates execution of contingency plans.
  • Contributes to ongoing communication with accounting operations on project status, business impacts and risks, and approaches to address business needs.
  • Incumbent will interface with multiple areas of the IT, Service Operations, Finance, and Compliance communities.
Job Requirements:

  • Project Management experience on complex projects, following formal Agile project management discipline or similar approaches or methodologies.
  • Strong technical skills in Accounting and/or Auditing are preferred with an emphasis on GAAP, Statutory, Management, and HHS/Minimum Loss Ratio Reporting associated with Healthcare reform.
  • Knowledge of health insurance products, Oracle and SAP a plus
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or related discipline and at least five, typically eight years of solid, diverse work experience in Finance.
