Controller

job summary:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all company accounting functions. This will entail overseeing and supporting Staff Accountants, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Accounting and analysis experience in a busy environment is mandatory. The Controller will be responsible for financial statement preparation, consolidating financial data for multiple locations, treasury management, along with government tax filings and remittances.

responsibilities:
  • Performs month-end procedures for all US divisions
  • Prepares monthly financial statement for VP Finance review
  • Manages and supervises the accounting team (Staff Accountant, AR, AP)
  • Provide financial data and address any requests
  • Continually reviews the finance department's processes and procedures to enhance the department's efficiency and create automation
  • Designs, develops and implements finance procedures and reports per management's request
  • Reviews and reconciles all AR, AP and miscellaneous reports that are created by staff and distributed to management and third parties
  • Reviews and reconciles payments posted in SAP
  • Approves credit memo requests for chargebacks, deals and discounts
  • Reviews all AP invoices for approvals and accuracy
  • Provides various on demand periodic sales reports and monthly operational reports
  • Prepares and files Sales and Use Tax Returns and 1099s
  • Directs contact for tax accountants, financial/royalty audits and reviews, prepares and provides documentation as requested
  • Manage cash flow and complete cash flow forecasting including bank transfers to allocate funds as required
  • Manage fixed asset accounts and depreciation schedule, intercompany accounts reconciliations
 
qualifications:
  • BBA degree in business, accounting, finance or related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and outstanding analytical abilities
  • Proficient in ERP systems, SAP and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • At least 5 years of combined finance and accounting experience (creating financial statements and working with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process)
  • An advanced degree or designation in accounting (CPA is preferred)
