HR Generalist

job summary:
This position will be actively involved across all functional areas of Human Resources including recruiting, compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development. The individual will be expected to quickly learn and perform current processes, assess them, and where appropriate make suggestions for improvement. This role will also serve as back-up to the HR Associate for payroll processing.

responsibilities:
Full Life Cycle Recruiting:

  • Develop and maintain internal and external job postings including position appropriate compensation levels
  • Generate a flow of applicants from various sources - agency, networking, LinkedIn, local colleges, etc.
  • Screen resumes, schedule and interview candidates, and assist hiring managers in the candidate evaluation process
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure all paperwork is completed timely and accurately
Compensation and Benefits:

  • Participate in the year-end merit compensation and bonus calculation process
  • Participate in ad-hoc salary surveys with the intention to gather relevant benchmark data for all markets we operate in
  • Partner with VPHR during annual benefit enrollment process. Assist with evaluation of current benefit offerings against alternative options from both a cost and coverage perspective
  • Educate employees on current offerings and any potential changes to offerings
  • Research and recommend additional offerings as required i.e. Wellness programs, etc.
Employee Relations:

  • Provide guidance to management team and employees on issues as they arise
  • Provide policy interpretation and action as required
  • Participate in coordination of employee events and activities
  • Through surveys and research, determine effectiveness of HR programs and policies and propose recommendations for improvements or updates
Performance Management/Organizational Development:

  • Participate in the annual performance appraisal process to include working with mangers and supervisors in preparing the appraisal and providing feedback as required
  • Assist managers in identifying performance shortfalls and creating a plan for improvement
  • Promote the organization's learning management program and facilitate employee access and utilization
  • Work with managers in tailoring a learning development plan for individual employees
  • Coordinate leadership development programs and partner with outside training vendors as required
HR Administration:

  • Assist with the day to day operation of the HR Department
  • Produce regularly scheduled and ad hoc HR reports i.e. Headcount, Org Charts, S&A, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all required reporting i.e. 5500, EEO-1, ACA, W-2, etc
  • Maintenance and update of the HR section of the Company intranet site
  • Assist in responding to all external and internal audit requests
 
qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field

Minimum 5 years of relevant and related experience

SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred

Experience with full life cycle recruiting for all position levels

Commercially oriented with P&L awareness

Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws as they relate to HR practices

Experience with ADP Workforce Now highly desirable
