Senior Cost Accounting Manager - Currently working with a very successful biotech company that is currently seeking a Senior Cost Accounting Manager for their corporate accounting group. This role would be fairly hands on and supervise 1 Cost Analyst and oversee all cost accounting and inventory accounting functions as well as variance and cost analysis functions. Qualified candidates will have 8+ years of Cost Accounting experience.

responsibilities:






The Senior Cost Accounting Manager is an individual contributor responsible for cost accounting and maintaining and improving inventory processes.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, organize and direct all the activities of the cost accounting function in support of monthly close activities, including preparation or supervision of preparing of journal entries and accruals
  • Review and reconcile all inventory account valuations:

    • Raw Materials
    • Off-site locations
    • Reserves for excess and obsolete inventory
    • Inventory turns and capitalized variances
  • Month-end/Quarter-end and Year-end close support
  • Define policies and procedures for all cost accounting and inventory activities (including processes related to inventory team)
  • Assist in implementation and compliance with Sarbanes- Oxley section 404, building controls and processes
  • Support audit schedules and other related audit events
  • Prepare monthly reporting metrics relating to COGS and Inventory analysis
  • Support cost analysis by product
  • Provide analytical insight and support
  • Support manufacturing variances
  • Support purchase price variances
  • Support manufacturing resources and cost center spend
  • Develop metrics and tracking system for major cost drivers and drive communications of results with respective business leaders
  • Support Costing and Systems
  • Maintain a standard cost system
  • Support BOMs (Bill of Materials)
  • Support Labor rates and cycle time
  • Support Individual product costs and margin analysis
  • May manage inventory team from accounting compliance prospective and provide them directions and guidance as needed (for example, monthly cycle counts process/timeline; year-end close/counts/audit requests, Physical cycle count, ERP processes and controls)
  • May supervise other employees directly and indirectly




 
qualifications:




QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent; CMA, CPA or MBA a plus
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in cost accounting and analysis
  • Significant US GAAP and cost accounting experience in a manufacturing inventory environment or life science
  • Experience in interacting with manufacturing, engineering, quality, purchasing, production control, materials and other functional areas of a manufacturing business
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex financial analysis related to manufacturing activities
  • Demonstrated leadership and history of driving change with a sense of urgency
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with non-accounting professional
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP & MRP systems
  • Strong Analytical and MS office skills, especially Excel Excellent management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) required
  • High degree of integrity including ability to successfully handle sensitive or confidential information
  • Displays a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to learn quickly and complete ownership of area of responsibility
  • Comfortable and willing to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Strong organization, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be a team player
