Trade Compliance Auditor

job summary:
Overall Responsibilities:

The Audit Specialist responsibilities involve assisting with the Trade Compliance Audit program.

This includes performing transactional reviews of imports into or exports out of selected countries.

Their role in a transactional review would be gathering customs declaration documentation, financial documentation and support for compliance data elements and populating a Google sheet with certain information from the documents to determine the accuracy of the customs declaration.

There is also a lighter touch transactional review that is outsourced to a 3rd party service provider, which requires facilitating providing the necessary data and documentation to enable their review, as well as an initial review of their results.

Responsibilities will also include assisting with data analytics and maintaining the data repository of import and export data from which the data analytics tool pulls from in populating reports.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

- Manage the gathering of compliance information from multiple internal sources and third party service providers and populate Google sheets with data elements from the information gathered to facilitate the review of import and export transactions;

- Utilize and develop documented processes that memorialize the reviews performed and steps taken to complete the review; and

- Receive and review import and export data from multiple sources and assist in maintaining reports created from the import and export data.

Skill/Experience/Education

Mandatory Required Skills:

- BA/BS degree (Manager is open to degree). In lieu of degree, manager will consider two additional years of compliance audit experience

- 2-3 years of compliance audit experience

- Working knowledge of spreadsheets (whether it be Google sheets or Microsoft Excel) - Excellent communication skills both oral and written for all levels

-Keen eye for detail - Self starter - Deadline driven - Extremely organized

Desired Nice to Have

Skills/Not Required:

- CPA license

- U.S. Customs Broker license

- Experience working in international trade through freight forwarder, customs brokerage or in-house with a company

- Familiarity with shipping documents (e.g. customs declaration, airway bill or bill of lading, invoice, packing list, etc.)

- Experience with data analytics
