Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for full-cycle accounting in a medium- to large-sized Company.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and direct preparation of weekly and monthly financial reporting packages for executive management and finance teams.
  • Apply guidelines and established procedures containing or relating to legal, regulatory, tax, and other financial matters.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of such guidelines as necessary.
  • Perform full-cycle accounting and ensure all transactions are accounted for accurately, timely, and in accordance with US GAAP for multiple affiliated companies.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of month-end close.
  • Take ownership of the month-end process, including the preparation of month-end journal entries (e.g. accruals, prepaids, reclassifications, depreciation, reclass, foreign currency revaluation, etc.);
  • Monitoring and performance of reconciliations of intercompany activities and balances;
  • Investigation and resolution of any general ledger discrepancies/issues;
  • Preparation of applicable supporting balance sheet schedules; and
  • Performance of balance sheet reconciliations; application of technical knowledge and independent judgment to ensure accuracy of accounts and timely resolution of reconciling items as required.
  • Perform analytical reviews of monthly operating results and variance analysis.
  • Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliations, including allocations and adjustments.
  • Maintain adequate internal controls within the accounting processes to ensure well documented, accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Maintain current knowledge of, and adhere to, corporate and accounting procedures, guidelines and standards.
  • Appraise and make recommendations regarding operating results in terms of costs, budgets, operations, trends and increased profit opportunities.
  • Assist in filing of corporate tax returns, payment of other taxes, and licenses.
  • Perform sales and payment application functions including:
  • Sales and payment transaction uploads into the Company's ERP System
  • Post payment applications accurately and timely
  • Prepare sales, cash, and AR subledger reconciliations
  • Assist with preparing and/or gathering support for annual external audit.
  • Inform Chief Financial Officer and other members of executive management and finance teams of legal, auditing or other significant problems.
  • Work with finance team on a variety of ad-hoc projects, as needed.
Experience:

  • Active CPA License in California.
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business or finance.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or private industry.
  • Proven ability to effectively present information to top management and/or boards of directors.
  • Proven excellent reporting, letter preparation, group presentation and other related communications skills.
  • Relevant experience in the consumer goods, apparel or manufacturing industries.
  • Experience with multinational companies and foreign exchange.
  • Advanced Excel, data extraction and manipulation skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with an analytical and problem-solving mind-set.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with NetSuite is strongly preferred.
