Join our well established client, in Metro Detroit, as part of the team looking to drive change in the organization and deliver a strong level of customer service to its associates. Local candidates requested. Position Description The Payroll Tax Accountant is a valued member of the Payroll Team. The successful candidate should be a hands on professional with a strong understanding of U.S. and Canadian payroll tax principles, have a good process and control mindset with an ability to drive continuous improvement on established to ensure efficient and quality payroll tax and accounting processes. Position Requirements

- Work as primary contact with third party tax services vendors

- Work with third party employment/unemployment service provider

- Ensure weekly payroll tax files are tracked, reviewed and funding is remitted in a timely manner

- Transmits monthly, quarterly and annual files performing balancing and reconciliation of payroll taxes for several companies under the corporate umbrella

- Tracks and responds to tax agency inquiries in a timely manner - Works with tax service provider when amended tax returns required

- Processes payroll adjustments and corrections

- Maintains Payroll Tax information within the HR/Payroll system

- Makes application for new Federal/State Employer ID and Unemployment state ID

- Coordinates with HR Systems Management team, Payroll and third-party service providers the year-end W-2 and T4 processes

- Backs-up the Payroll Accountant on General ledger postings for payroll expense

- Performs worksite reporting

- Completion of Canadian ROE ( Record of Employment) documents

- Other duties as assigned Basic Requirements

- BS degree in Business or Accounting preferred.

- Knowledge of Payroll practices and procedures required - minimum 5 year experience

. - Advanced computer software skills including: MS Excel and Word; knowledge of SAP HR preferred.

- Demonstrated ability to handle a large volume of detail work accurately and efficiently.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; effectively manage competing demands.

- Exercises strong initiative and uses solid judgment in all situations.

- Strong focus on customer service.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all instances required.

- Employs positive communication skills written, verbal and interpersonal
