job summary:
Financial Reporting Accountant

Responsibilities:

To assist in the preparation and review of Annual Shareholder reports, SAI's and Prospectuses. Responsible for managing their assignments within strict deadlines.

Responsible for compiling and ensuring the quality and accuracy of financial reporting and other regulatory required filings, providing sound qualitative analysis.

Responsible for compiling legal entity financial statements, other regulatory required filings and board reports, which may include other periodic regulatory and management reporting.

Provides insightful qualitative analysis around regulatory, legal entity and/or board reporting.

Teams with internal and external partners to understand, prioritize and review specialized/complex analysis, reports and accounting transactions and implement any changes needed for reporting as a result.

Ad hoc projects.

Maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting in accordance with SOX 404, other regulatory guidelines, and company standards.

Other financial reporting, analysis or review, potentially including, but not limited to:

presentation of periodic regulatory reports, maintenance and testing of PeopleSoft reports, assistance with ad-hoc reports.

Complete requests from and communicate with external auditors and examiners/regulators.

SOX 404 compliance or Model Audit Rule (Insurance).

Requirements:

Experience with SEC disclosure and reporting requirements or statutory reporting requirements as applicable.

Strong technical accounting knowledge. extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) Experience and working knowledge of U.S. GAAP Taxonomy (UGT).

3-5 years of industry experience in financial reporting specifically working with GAAP financial statements, required.

Experience with related SEC filings and other applicable reporting requirements.

Strong analytical skills and ability to identify issues and escalate to Management; quick learner, self starter and self-directed; strong organizational skills; good communication skills; strong work ethic and operates with a sense of urgency; high standards for accuracy and attention to detail; positive, team-oriented attitude.
