My client in Fairfield CT is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to execute the analysis activities required for the financial and strategic planning of their organization. The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for developing and analyzing financial models and key metrics to assist the company with reviewing current financial performance, long term financial planning and strategic objectives. This person will serve as the financial functional expert with regards to Workday and ERP systems and related projects.

responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the Portfolio Review process; which provides analytical data based on a per department basis.
  • Designs and utilizes data reports from a wide variety of enterprise systems to inform resource decisions and planning within the company. Extends the use of this data to other decision makers across departments and programs.
  • Assists with the development of the annual budget, and clarifies budget policies, practices and procedures with departments to ensure quality and reliability of information.
  • Provides expertise and initiative on policy development, best practices, process improvement, and compliance with regard to financial operations.
  • Identifies effective indicators of financial performance and assesses performance against financial plans and strategic objectives. Develops models for financial analysis, forecasting and reporting, including peer comparisons, trend data and cost studies.
  • Provides support and consultation to the Assistant VP for Financial Planning and Analysis, University departments and others on financial forecasting, reporting and analysis.
  • Serves as Finance Division liaison to Information Technology Services to facilitate system enhancements, upgrades, or conversions.
Exceptional analytical capabilities:

  • Skilled at developing performance metrics, analysis and financial reports that guide decision making.
  • Aptitude to quickly grasp the business and a thorough understanding of accounting and financial principles.
  • Cost Accounting experience a plus.
 
qualifications:
EDUCATION: A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Five to seven years of well-rounded financial analysis and reporting experience, preferably in a university or non-profit setting, including:

  • Extensive experience implementing and using enterprise-wide planning and reporting tools. Experience creating presentations to communicate financial data.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL NEEDED: Solid technical knowledge of databases and desktop applications (Workday, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
