Accountant

job summary:
Fortune 500 Company is looking for an Accountant. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions. This is a 4 to 6 month contract assignment with the potential to be extended.

Responsibilities of the Accountant:

  • Analyze and interpret Customer marketing contracts and promotions to establish accurate accruals in the CMA Subledger across both local and national accounts.
  • Process accurate and timely CMA Payments including deductions, manual and system checks as well as settlement of post audits as required.
  • Conduct final check (e.g., check methodology, reasonableness, propriety of information) of financial material prior to distribution.
  • Enter voucher in general ledger or corporate finance database using tools such as a manual voucher, Excel voucher, or on-line voucher system to record transaction.
  • Identify, classify, maintain, and protect files, documentation and sensitive information consistent with record handling and retention requirements.
Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or 2 years college coursework in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Knowledge of and ability to understand basic accounting principles (e.g., debit and credit) around transactional processes.
  • Knowledge of and ability to extract and query data from systems (e.g. SAP, Bank Portals, SWIPE Portals ).
  • Making customers (external and internal) and their needs a primary focus of one's actions; developing and sustaining productive customer relationships; creating and executing plans and solutions in collaboration with the customer.
  • Financial Systems and Processes. Ability to research financial systems and processes (e.g., journal vouchers, expense reports, vendor file) to resolve issues (e.g., missing expense checks, missing journal vouchers)
  • Data Validation. Knowledge of and ability to understand and resolve data inconsistencies or variances.
  • Experience with ERP systems including SAP or other third party subledger tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including intermediate to advanced Excel (must have experience with pivot tables and Vlookup)
