Cost Accountant

job summary:
Randstad Professionals is currently assisting our client in the York area with an Accounting Manager/Cost Accountant role. Contract to hire and the pay is $28.00-$36.00 an hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Accurately record and report all income and expenses to internal and external resources
  • Cash management to include checking accounts, credit cards and credit lines
  • Oversee job costing, billing, payables, complete costing for the contracts in house and cross check job profitability on all jobs, providing forecasting of final costs
  • Negotiate ideal pricing with vendors to match client terms
  • Establish protected excel bidding sheets for all projects and assist in pricing our products
  • Manage receivables/collections process
  • Maintain fixed asset excel sheet additions schedules and accuracy of Contract Percent Complete/Estimate to completion reports
  • Implement and monitor the month, quarter and year-end closeout accounting processes
  • Provide financial condition and other special reports to management on a weekly and/or monthly basis
  • Prepare quarterly financials for banks and bonding companies
  • Prepare year-end financials and tax information for external accountant
  • Timely completion of month-end close and preparation of financial statements
  • Develop and solidify financial budgets and forecasts
  • Setup QuickBooks Enterprise to comply with Federal Acquisition Regulation and The Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement requirements
  • Conduct audits for company and projects which include oversee workers' comp, general liability, and other audits
  • Complete contract data requirements list for the military contracts under way
  • Provide compliance with filing requirements of all tax returns
  • Manage HR issues related to new hires, personnel file maintenance, benefits, 401(k) and profit sharing plans, and payroll
Qualifications:

  • Accounting degree, Bachelors or higher desired
  • Three plus years' experience in accounting and job costing
  • Complete understanding of cost accounting for commercial and military sales
  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation and The Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement a plus
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Quickbooks and ERP systems
  • Experience with data entry, A/R, A/P, tax filings and HR
