Senior Tax Associate

job summary:
Summary: The Senior Tax Associate is responsible for the preparation and some review assistance of the Firm's tax accounting and compliance. The Senior Tax Associate will work closely with client and staff on all phases of project and engagement management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality
  • Preparation of more complex federal, multi-state and local individual, trust, partnership, and S & C Corporation income tax returns and make recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings
  • Review income tax returns prepared by staff
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with staff/team members of the firm
  • Become proficient at tax research including a knowledge of the reference sources available to the firm
  • Demonstrate competency in technical skills, work quality and application of professional and firm standards
  • Supervise, train, and mentor associates and interns on tax projects and assess performance of staff for engagement reviews
  • Responsible to develop and maintain strong client relationship on all assigned clients through quality and timely service and communication.
  • Obtain research and writing skills necessary to prepare engagement letters, PBC's, and responses to tax notices
  • Prepare thorough and accurate workpapers, manage open items lists, and maintain ProSystem fx Engagement binders in accordance with tax department standards
  • Regularly perform self-reviews that eliminates errors
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments of varying sizes and complexity within given timeframe and budget
  • Career ownership through proactive seeking assignment, research, helping others, seeking feedback and keep others informed of available hours
  • Proficient in tax software including ProSystem fx Engagement, fixed assets and tax and XCM
  • Continually work to increase quality of work through asking questions and being receptive to review notes and feedback
  • Develop an understanding of Firm policies, processes, and procedures
Qualifications:

  • Attained a Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university
  • Two or three years related experience and/or training
  • CPA license, licensed attorney or working toward CPA licensure
  • Must be able to communicate and function in an interdisciplinary team
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Demonstrated computer skills and experience with accounting software
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
