Controller

job summary:
The Corporate Controller will be responsible for the management of all accounting functions including policies and procedures for all companies with timely, accurate and reliable financial reporting to the executive management team. This person will also be responsible for the management of information technology from a software and system perspective as it relates to financial reporting.

Major Duties:

  • Provide accurate monthly financial reporting to the CFO.
  • Production of all company financial statements with consolidation into corporate financial reports.
  • Assist in all financial audits including the annual audit, ensuring all supporting documentation for the outside auditor.
  • Manage Construction Accountants and provides guidance related to construction accounting and ensure accuracy and reporting of financial statement information.
  • Provide guidance and training to construction accounting department regarding financial policies and procedures.
  • Build an organization that effectively supports the goals of the company and team by hiring, developing and retaining qualified staff.
  • Oversee, monitor, and adhere to department's budget, goals and schedules.
  • Develop and deliver quality projects from inception to close-out on time, within scope and budget.
  • Complete responsibility for the General Ledger including reconciliation, recognition of issues, investigation and reporting to executive management.
  • Manage, develop and mentor accounting staff to build an effective team that can accurately execute all transactions and timely close each period in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead continuous improvement of the general accounting functions within the department as well as operating functions that are inter-related to ensure quality financial information.
  • Lead and assist in the development & implementation of new policies and procedures to enhance the workflow and financial reporting of the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with sales tax regulations in all states.
  • Assist all operating departments with financial reporting to ensure they have accurate and timely financial information to guide them.
Qualifications:

  • 10 + years of experience in progressively responsible leadership roles in accounting for large diverse organizations.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting. CPA or MBA a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a broad knowledge of accounting systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrated ability to organize and manage to completion multiple high priority projects simultaneously and on time.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.
