Senior Manager, Global Accounting Policy

job summary:
Leading global financial services is looking for a Senior Global Technical Accounting Manager. Reports to the Director of Global Technical Accounting Policy and serves as a global accounting policy expert throughout Finance and the organization. Responsibilities include the evaluation of accounting implications of material transactions, providing input and suggestions to planned and proposed agreements and ventures, development, implementation and maintenance of written financial policies and procedures compliant with U.S. and local GAAP, IFRS, SEC rules and regulations, and other relevant accounting or reporting rules or requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze proposed new, unusual and complex business transactions by properly identifying accounting implications of various explicit terms and implied nuances, applying appropriate accounting rules and literature and exercising judgment to draw conclusions. Advise senior management on the accounting and external financial reporting impacts in accordance with U.S. GAAP and local GAAP or IFRS as applicable.
  • Provide input and suggestions prior to finalization of agreements involving material transactions, including M&A activity. Coordinate discussions of material transactions with external auditors.
  • Evaluate and lead the adoption of new accounting standard updates, including drafting and maintaining relevant accounting policies.
  • Support the global Finance organization during the quarterly and annual close and reporting cycles to ensure efficient and accurate financial and regulatory filings. Consult on issues on an ad hoc basis for regulatory and other filings/requests.
  • Provide periodic technical accounting training to members of the global Finance organization.
Requirements:

BS degree

CPA

7+ years of experience in public accounting or large private industry

Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS preferred
