Demand Planner

job summary:
Duties and responsibilities

  • Works with Demand Manager to develop the forward looking divisional Demand Plan in volume, revenue, and gross margin, which becomes the basis for production planning, operating plans and financial projections.
  • Maintains and updates the Demand Plans (retail, field inventory, and shipments) within appropriate corporate system(s), to include statistical forecasting tool(s).
  • Makes recommendations regarding issues and actions to key stakeholders.
  • Documents assumptions underlying the Demand Plan and highlights key changes. Monitors market environment versus plan assumptions and maintains a current register of risks and opportunities.
  • Facilitates the monthly IBP Demand Review to gain consensus on the unconstrained Demand Plan, incorporating input from Sales, Marketing, Finance and Customer Service. Demand input can include brand & channel strategy, promotions, pricing, economic and other external indicators, competitive analysis, new product launch plans, statistical forecasting, and sales / account plans.
  • Manages and reports on Demand Plan error metrics at all levels of the process. Achieves continuous improvement goals on Demand Plan bias and accuracy errors. Ensures that root-cause analysis and corrective actions are developed, executed and measured.
  • Develops and evaluates Demand Plan assumptions with Sales & Marketing, such as allocations, promotions and launch dates, to optimize service levels and inventories. All other duties as assigned
Specifications

  • BA/BS degree, or requisite experience, in Business or Technical field, preferably in a quantitative discipline like Economics, Supply Chain or Mathematics
  • Experience with forecasting software is highly desirable
  • Experience in demand planning processes for CPGs or Mass retail environment is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills
  • Organized and proactive with demonstrated ability to work under pressure
