Payroll Analyst

job summary:
Payroll Transaction Processing

  • Calculate and process transactions included in the Gross to Net payroll
  • Regular Pay (Salary)
  • Incentive Payments
  • One-time payments
  • Termination Pay (voluntary & involuntary); vacation on termination
  • Leave payments
  • Overpayments & recovery
  • Voluntary deductions
  • Garnishments
  • Employee tax set-up
  • Elect to Work payroll processing
  • Annual timesheet creation
  • Annual timesheet calendar
  • Semi-monthly timesheet processing Supports Payroll Processing
  • Provides functional expertise to support the payroll operations
  • Performs trouble shooting & intermediate analysis & research related to payroll processing and recommend corrective actions
  • Reconciles the inputs & outputs of the payroll processing working with internal partners Tier 1B Escalation
  • Research, resolve and respond to escalated Tier 1B payroll inquiries through closing of cases
Payroll Compliance Reporting

  • Responsible for tax reporting, quarter and year-end payroll activities including the production of Federal, provincial and state tax forms & annual returns

responsibilities:
Payroll Governance & Controls

  • Review and audit reports for processing errors, train & educate staff as needed
  • Ensure that payroll processing is in compliance with federal, provincial and state laws
  • Identifies & escalates non-compliance with all applicable tax regulations and company policies
  • Verify payroll data for reasonableness & compliance with applicable regulatory reporting
Skills Required:

  • CPA or APA Certification or in progress
  • Working knowledge of payroll processing, tax principles, wage & hours legislation, including year-end T4 processing
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, organization & time management skills
  • Ability to follow complex oral & written direction and excellent problem solving skills
  • US Payroll experience an asset
  • Excellent organizational & time management skills
  • Good verbal & written communication skills
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, efficiency and ability to handle multiple priorities
