HR Generalist

job summary:
Employee Relations Consultant - Contract Position

LOB/Department: Human Resources/Shared Services/US Employee Relations

Reports to: Director, Employee Relations

This temporary position serves as an Employee Relations Consultant and is responsible for the handling of workplace accommodations requests for individuals with disabilities. This position may also assist with handling complex employee relations issues, including investigations into employee complaints.

Principal Responsibilities:

- Working under minimal supervision, provide effective service, support, consultation and resolution of employee relations inquiries and issues through the informed application of company policies, programs, procedures, and federal/state laws.

- Respond to and resolve requests for reasonable accommodations, including assessing the individuals need for reasonable accommodation, facilitating the interactive process in order to determine the most effective and efficient solution that is consistent with the needs of the business and the associate or candidate, and ensuring implementation of approved accommodations; Duties also include engaging and communicating with health care providers (HCPs) and educating involved parties regarding disability rights and employer responsibilities under the ADAAA regulations applicable to accommodation requests.

- Assist with handling and resolution of complex employee relations matters, including conducting and documenting thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints following established processes and employee relations documentation guidelines.

- Provide response, consultation and successful resolution of employee relations questions and inquiries.

- Deliver consistent, superior service and outcomes in a timely and professional manner to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.

- Interpret policies to facilitate a common understanding and consistent application throughout the organization.

- Document inquiries, actions and outcomes into the case management system to ensure appropriate records are retained. ________________________________________________________________________

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

- 3-5 years of employee relations or human resources generalist experience, or experience related to providing reasonable accommodations

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience

- Proficient knowledge and understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations

- Demonstrated ability to conduct formal investigations (preferred)

- Ability to establish credibility, build rapport and create trust in a virtual setting.

- Excellent consultative, listening, and verbal/written communication skills; ability to influence, negotiate and convey recommendations and opinions persuasively.

- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive, emotional and confidential situations in a composed, discrete and professional manner.

- Excellent problem solving, negotiation and influencing skills.

- Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and use time effectively and efficiently, while shifting frequently between multiple priorities and business requirements simultaneously.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint); PeopleSoft HCMS and CRM a plus.
