Director of Accounting

job summary:
My client, an international company in Danbury CT, is in need of a Director of Accounting. This individual will be responsible for a variety of activities in Corporate Accounting, including consolidations and analysis of financial results. They will manage the day to day accounting operations and month-end close and reporting activities of their junior accountants for multiple business units as well as other duties that include but are not limited to:

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

- Responsible for annual consolidated financial statement preparation.

- Responsible for coordinating the annual consolidated audit and serving at the key contact for the public accounting firm which audits the client.

- Responsible for closing activities including month-end journal entries, reconciliations, revenue recognition, commissions, foreign exchange and operating accruals.

- Responsible for monthly balance sheet and income statement consolidations and related inter-company eliminations.

- Responsible for cash management, including bank reconciliations, customer collections, daily freight and operating payments and monthly cash forecasting.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required

- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience

- A mixture of public accounting and private accounting experience

- CPA required

- Strong General Ledger skills and solid knowledge of GAAP

- Proficient in MS Excel

- Proven leadership, organizational, communication, and analytical skills
