Accounting Manager

job summary:
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for efficiently developing, directing and overseeing all the accounting activities for Capital Budgeting and Real Estate. The Accounting Manager will provide operational accounting support to the field to ensure insure all financial transactions are recorded timely and accurately in accordance with GAAP and will assist in the preparation of monthly financial reporting and variance analysis.

responsibilities:
  • Perform month-end accounting duties and responsibilities for capital budgeting and real-estate lease hold improvements and analytical review of capital project additions and ensure accurate balance sheet classification
  • Manage and review the month-end closing and financial reporting process for capital expenditures and oversee the accounting operations internal, control systems and policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all sub-ledger general ledger accounts for Capital Budgeting and Real Estate are reconciled monthly and quarterly as appropriate
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Implement internal management reporting including and interface with external parties (auditors, tax, legal, printers, etc)
  • Communicate with department line managers to gain full understanding monthly variances and accruals
  • Investigate significant changes in monthly/quarterly/annual fluctuations and budget to actuals
  • Prepare commentaries explaining variances to prior months, prior year and budget
  • Participate in strategic projects to improve profitability and efficiency of the company
  • Provide analytical tools and reports to support decision making
  • Oversee the daily operational departmental functions
 
qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA is a must. MBA is a plus
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, JD Edwards is a plus
  • 7-years plus experience working for a in a mid/large-sized company in a similar role
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of corporate accounting/financial reporting/external reporting experience
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong Excel and must possess strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency, able to prioritize
  • Experience in developing and fostering a team environment
