Mortgage Loan Underwriter

job summary:
Our client has multiple openings for Consumer Loan Underwriters in Raleigh, NC!

Duties:

  • Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, approving and underwriting routine individual consumer requests and products with few deviations and within company and industry guidelines.
  • This is a fast paced production role, no customer interaction will be involved
  • Work out of a queue to support underwriters with title work
  • This team will be picking up widgets, reviewing titles, identifying items needing to be addressed on the title (conditioning the title) and push it back out to get those items addressed/stips cleared.
  • This role is not customer facing and is a heads down production/processing role where candidates will work out of queues/email boxes
Qualifications

  • 1+ years mortgage lending and/or processing experience with knowledge of titles OR 1+ years title experience elsewhere from a real estate attorney office/company, mortgage title companies, etc.
  • MUST have experience in a fast paced high production environment, this role can be stressful and if they don't have that exp they will not do well.

Interview schedule/Delivery: No interviews, selecting based off resumes. Jaime would like to receive candidates via IQN, not email. Plug all candidates into the req and include resumes. Please provide email updates on tues/thurs of each week on candidate background statuses. Will have touchbase calls with him on Tues & Thurs each week to review efforts and offers. If we get close to maxing the req out he is then willing to receive candidates via email.

These roles are with WF Home Lending. Due to low rates they are currently going through a rate rally, meaning their pipelines have spiked and they are needing to ramp up for this increased volume in their retail channel. This environment is extremely fast paced, production based and can be stressful. They are experiencing extremely high volumes and are working to clear existing work and preparing for Q4/Q1 work through 2021. Managers are stretched very thin and candidates will need to be self starters, move quickly and ok with not having their hand held.

Dependent on division, functions may include reviewing credit applications, credit bureau information, collateral valuation, tax returns, financial statements, and or other supporting documentation to recommend/approve requests within decisioning authority levels by way of automated scoring system or traditional underwriting; assisting with the calculations and preparation of reports for review; responding to customer inquiries and credit decisions; ensuring credit files are current, complete, and compliant with company standards; contacting customers and partners to gather information to make appropriate decisions, explain rationale behind credit decisions, and/or to sell/promote line products.: 6+ months experience in underwriting, processing, origination or closing or BA/BS.
  • Experience Reviewing Property Title is encouraged
Qualifications

  • #1 Candidate - 1+ years mortgage lending and/or processing experience with knowledge of titles
  • #2 Candidate - 1+ years title experience elsewhere from a real estate attorney office/company, mortgage title companies, etc
  • #3 Candidate - College grads with the following degrees: accounting, finance, economics, law (for these candidates, he would like to review resumes before us offering)
  • MUST have experience in a fast paced high production environment, this role can be stressful and if they don't have that exp they will not do well
  • This is a fast paced production role, no customer interaction will be involved
Training

  • 2-3 weeks, then 2 weeks after training of additional ramp period
  • No L&D support so this team will utilize a Subject Matter Expert (SME) from their team to support training
  • Virtual training in a classroom setting that will be capped at 10 people per room to allow for social distancing
  • Critical that candidates are able to flex to this unstructured environment
Metrics:

  • After 2-3 weeks of training and another 2 weeks of ramp - they will be expected to complete 1 widget every 15 mins (28 total/day) - this is essentially their "handle time"
