Responsible for the preparation and review of the quarterly and annual tax provision and financial reporting.
The individual will work closely with the Accounting Department to prepare schedules.
As the company is a hybrid investment and operating company, the tax provision consists of a combination of accounting for flow-through investment activity (i.e., deferred tax effect), held at the Blockers, as well as entity-level activity.
Prepare and review the tax return information which is provided to a third-party provider. The organizational structure consists of its parent entity taxed as a regulated investment company (Form 1120-RIC / Form 8613), Tax Blockers (Form 1120) and partnerships (Form 1065).
Oversee and manage the completion of all federal and state income tax returns outsourced to the third-party provider. Review final tax returns for accuracy including incoming portfolio company's tax returns and K-1s for accuracy.
Develop/manage a tax control checklist to ensure fulsome engagement management.
Research complex tax issues and summarize results in a concise manner to communicate to Tax Director and certain non-tax professionals.
Working with the Tax Director and investment team members on portfolio company-level investment structuring, taxable income projections, etc.
Assist in developing and implementing strategic tax planning.
Maintains an active CPA license / Eligible;
Bachelor or Master's in Accounting or Taxation;
4-5 years of tax experience in ASC 740 income tax accounting and subchapter K taxation from industry and/or top-rated public accounting firm;
Investment management experience is preferred but not required;
Good organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to take ownership of daily assignments while managing multiple tasks simultaneously;
Ability to analyze and communicate complex tax issues and apply concepts in order to make recommendations to Tax Director based on tax research;
Strong work ethics; proactive; self-motivated and driven with the ability to complete tasks efficiently, timely and accurately;
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain solid working relationships across the organization
