The Director of Tax will oversee the Company's tax planning, compliance, and reporting for sales & use tax, gross receipts tax, property tax and other indirect taxes. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Accounting, the ideal candidate is able to not only work well with company stakeholders, but is able to work for the team. The Director will be very hands on, must possess an incredible attention to detail, and know how to effectively lead others while meeting critical deadline. They will monitor current and impending changes to tax regulation and make the appropriate updates to policies and strategies. The ideal candidate is single minded in their pursuit of ensuring compliance and achieves this goal through optimizing reporting procedures and driving the successful function of the tax team.

responsibilities:
What You'll Do

· Prepare and/or review computations of tax payments, returns, entries and reconciliations

· Facilitate and manage the review of federal, state, local and partnership returns and the accurate, timely filing of all tax forms

· Identify tax risk areas and work with other functional areas to ensure appropriate steps are taken to minimize tax risk

· Oversee and ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closing for the Tax Department

· Monitor and review tax legislation to assess applicability to the Company

· Manage and mentor members of tax team to greater levels of effectiveness and engagement

· Oversee development and maintenance of Tax Department policies and procedures

· Respond to state agency audits, inquires, and tax notices

· Engage in special projects as requested by Management

· Liaise with third party professionals, other teams, and tax advisers

· Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions

· Work cross-functionally with accounting team to report tax expense and accrual estimates in accordance with US GAAP

· Assist/support parent company's tax department in preparation of income tax returns

· Identify opportunities for process improvements and software automation functionality

 
qualifications:
Minimum Experience & Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's degree and CPA highly preferred

· 10 years progressive experience in a relevant tax accounting role (industry and public)

· Leadership experience

· Extensive experience with state and local tax

· Experience in preparation and review of federal tax provisions

· Creative and strategic problem-solving abilities

· Strong organizational, analytical, and research skills

· Ability to partner and build strong working relationships with multiple business units

· Knowledge of US. GAAP highly desirable
