job summary:
Our client in Fairfax has an immediate need for a Technical Editor to support their proposal process. This is a contract job at this time, but, has a strong possibility of becoming permanent. Apply today!

What will you be doing?

  • You will use a variety of word-processing software, mainly Microsoft Word, to edit proposal documents in support of Federal government contracts.
  • You will ensure that the document's grammar, content, and formatting are correct.
  • Edit proposals for grammar, content, style, and readability.
  • Perform various levels of editing, from light copy editing to substantive content editing, skillfully and diplomatically working with internal clients (proposal teams, project managers, etc.) to clarify meaning and suggest revisions.
  • Expertly apply style and formatting guidelines to documents.
  • Produce hardcopy proposals and deliverables, as needed.
  • Maintain a record of all documents that are edited or reviewed.
What qualifications should you have?

  • Bachelor's degree in English or journalism, or equivalent experience and training.
  • 3-5 years of experience in technical editing and writing.
  • Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to support multiple projects.
