Summary:

Provide strategic human resources support .Lead, define, implement and oversee human resource policies and initiatives. Be very familiar with and inform leadership team of current employment legal requirements, upcoming changes, and best practices. Coach and support senior level management in all HR-related areas with specifics to procedure and policy interpretation, employee relations issues. Provide employee recruiting and retention strategies and services; assess and identify talent and development needs. Drive organizational effectiveness with performance management processes. Source and support all employee benefit programs. Align compensation strategies with corporate goals. Be able to process payroll.

responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of HR initiatives and operations
  • Function as an internal coach to management, peers and others by assisting in identification and resolution of employee issues
  • Serve as expert resource to employees in all areas of Human Resources (i.e., compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, recruitment and issues resolution)
  • Lead the development and implementation of human resources policies, programs and practices including: recruitment, employee relations, compensation, training and development of staff, benefits administration
  • Suggest and implement recommendations for all staff to ensure engagement and production are at a high level
  • Effectively communicate and administer HR policies and programs
  • Be aware of current and pending local, state, and federal regulations regarding employment regulations and best practices
  • Provide knowledge, guidance and support at all management levels to ensure consistent and sound HR management and adherence to internal policies, as well as local, state and federal regulations
  • Thoughtful and creative idea originator to ensure employee engagement through programs and initiatives
  • Provide advice and counsel to management and employees to improve employee satisfaction
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll
  • Compose and provide annual compensation information, budgetary information
  • Ensure confidentiality of all information
 
qualifications:
Qualifications/Requirements:

  • BS in Business Management, MS desirable
  • PHR or SPHR certification desirable
  • 5-7 years of experience as an HR generalist, preferably in insurance industry
  • 2-3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience
  • Broad knowledge of employee benefits programs
  • Exceptional understanding of labor and employment laws and policies
  • Experience in recruiting, on-boarding and retaining employee groups
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and to maintain effective working relationships
  • Strong leadership skills coupled with keen analytics abilities in support of company goals
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team-based setting with capacity to accept ownership of issues and share credit for successes
  • Ability to gather and synthesize data and make sound judgments
  • Ability to plan, develop and coordinate multiple projects with shifting priorities
  • Superior interpersonal skills as well as excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Computer proficiency - including MS Office/Outlook, Internet Explorer, database
