This person will oversee accounting operations as well as some aspects of employee relations. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Finance & Accounting. The Senior Financial Accountant's responsibilities include the accurate and timely preparation and analyses of all facets of the financial operations which include leading the month end close process, preparation of financial statements, cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other accounting related duties. The Senior Financial Accountant's responsibilities will also include handling employee relations, such as payroll, employee benefits, policies and procedures, and may perform other administrative duties as required. location: Rockville, Maryland job type: Permanent salary: $100,000 - 120,000 per year work hours: 9 to 5 education: Bachelor's degree experience: 3 Years responsibilities: Accounting Operations Financial Reporting: Deliver timely and accurate financial processing, lead month end close, prepare cash management reports and perform balance sheet account reconciliationCash Management: Perform bank reconciliations and work closely with Treasury to ensure proper funding levels and maintain fraud controlsVendor Management: Ensure all vendors are onboarded in the payables system and provide vendor support and reporting as neededAP / Expense Management: Responsible for managing both the AP and expense management processes - this includes processing invoices for payment and reviewing and providing approval of employee expense reportsTax Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly and/or annual tax filings for Sales & Use Taxes and any other tax reporting required (e.g. 1095 submissions, preparing 1099s, etc.)Accounting & Compliance Policies: Maintain and enforce current accounting and compliance policies, in addition to providing recommendations for new policies and process improvements Employee Relations Payroll: Process bi-weekly payroll for on-site retail employees, ensure proper deductions are taken, and submit payroll tax payments to proper tax authority in a timely mannerPersonnel: Maintain employee vacation and sick leave via payroll system and assist with employee onboarding and offboarding processesBenefits: Notify employees when employment requirements are met for various benefit programs and act as a liaison between employees and benefits provider qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA license is preferred, but not required.Proven experience (3+ years) in accounting roles. Experience with human relations processes is a plus.Thorough grasp of financial management principles, encompassing GAAP, SOX compliance, and financial reporting.Proficiency in financial software and systems, including ERP systems, financial modeling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong MS Excel skills are a must and experience using Quickbooks is preferred.Annual starting salary $100,000-$120,000.
